April reading responsePrompt: What connections can you make with the text? First, I would want to make it clear that because I am a K-pop fan Toronto kcon is a really big deal for me and other K-pop Torontonian fans; where people can come together and share their interest of K-pop, meet Idols, and have fun!
I never went to kcon but Im would sure be a great experience if I would go to kcon this year. However last year was a whole different story. They were many artist that came last year including SM Entertainment's very own SHINEee, Got7, and much more. But into comparison to this year, and year would have been more exhilarating because of the numerous idol groups that I like came to Toronto last year than this year. But so far K-pop idols who are coming to kcon this year are K.A.R.D and BTOB. I would also think that because of how popular last year's kcon was, I do think that this year would be a bit less popular because K.A.R.D has just debut very recently, while there are very rare to see a BTOB fan here in Toronto. However, I do think that both would have a very long lasting fun experience for all K-pop fans here in Toronto

Prompt: What is your general opinion?
In the text its states "A 24-year-old dental student from France won the Miss Universe crown Monday in a pageant held in the Philippines, saying her triumph will make the beauty contest more popular in Europe and help her efforts to put more underprivileged children in school." I do want to first congratulate Miss France for winning the crown and be the miss universe of 2017. To also take into consideration, I was also very happy with how the Miss Universe pageant went in general, in comparison to last year. However, to be honest I really think Haiti is better than France just because of how she presents herself, orally and also physically, as she was competing with others with her individual style of beauty. But focusing more on France she is a very good choice as well, and I do hope that the next Miss Universe pageant would be as successful as this year. Prompt: What is this about ?
This about a girl named Savannah Hopkinson that was missing for the past 3 days, and was last seen on January the 9th 2017, in the Sheppard Avenue East and Bay Mills Boulevard area at around 7:30 am. Toronto Police is asking the communities assistance on finding this 16 year old teenager. The police has described her in the following: Gender: Female Hair: Red, long Height: 5'7" Weight: Medium build When I first heard of the news from my friend back at my old school, I was shocked and very worried about her safety. She was my friend at Camp O when I participated with the intermediates in Grade 6, leadership team and for other extra-curricular activities too. She is an amazing friend to me even when she graduated from Holy Spirit and moved on to High school. But knowing that the community and the Toronto Police is on the case it made me felt better from the scenario I am in right now, because with the help of the community I know we could find her. However, highlighting more on when this first took place on Monday January 9th, 21, it made me wonder if she was going to school at that time? This has made me think about my very own safety as a student and for others well being as well. Although I am very much worried, I hope that Savannah's family is okay and is well cared for, and pray that Savannah is safe and sound soon. Prompt: How did this happen?
Scary clown sighting all began in america, specifically South Carolina, when a young boy has sighted two brightly dressed clowns in the woods. As the boy rushed to his mother, he immediately told her mom that the two clowns were lure him to the house in the woods. Summarizing this article, its basically talking about how because of this situation, other specifically teenagers dresses up as clowns, to mostly to get famous in social media, and the internet, and also to scare other people! knowing this, I began to understand how creeping this can be, especially for a young biy to experience this. " Run away , seek shelter, and don't look back..." that what I would've said if I ever ever saw clowns like that. This to me is a very unfortunate event, like why are people continuing to makü impressions as clowns? I know its close to Halloween but save it for the day of. Especially if you get famous because of scary people. Not to be a hater or anythng but why does scaring people the new trend all of a sudden, all there doing is dressed up as clowns and giving people terror. But even though people don't have the right to scare people like that... Especially when innocent people are treated like the characters int he movie the "annual purge. PROMPT: What Is your general opinion of the text?
So, to put this whole situation together, this story is basically talking about a guy named Ken Pagan, that assaulted a wild card game in Toronto because of the affair of himself throwing a bottle or can of beer, in the baseball field. In which almost hurt Hyun Soo Kim, as the baseball player was about to catch a fly ball in the seventh inning. Now, as I continued to understand more about this article, I completely came to notice why on earth would someone throw beer!! I mean Its crazy! especially when it almost hit the Orioles player as he try to catch the ball. To me because of what I can say devious act it can just showed a little glimpse of what Toronto fans can be when it comes to encouraging in a bad way. But I am not saying that Toronto has the baddest fans ever, all I'm saying is that our action can speak louder than words if you know what I mean. However I am now looking at both sides of the spectrum and realized that I get it, I can understand how the Toronto fans just want to cheer for there team. But sometimes in a game like this Other teams, that enter the Toronto stadium should be treated as guests and less than rivals, or villains. Prompt: What did you know now that you didn't know before?
Right now I am totally speechless, and amazed. I mean, I can almost feel and see the sadness in peoples faces during the funeral and about this whole situation, this news story is about a very young child who is much younger than I am, died in the South Carolina school, in the age of 6! What I do know is that he, a student and a teacher have all been injured during this mishap. All because of a 14 year old suspect, that is also charged for killing his father right after he shot the other 3 victims in the school. He is know facing five counts of possession of a weapon, during the wrong doing of a violent crime. and a third attempted murder charge for a recently identified child victim. But to shine a light on this scenario, I could never be more warmhearted by any other story or murder story I have ever heard of. What I didn't know about this whole thing is that to honor this young boy, the funeral is based on super heroes which meant that the victim Jacob Hall dressed as his favorite super hero Batman, in his little coffin. Everybody was expected to wear there own unique super hero costume, which is insane! Like it almost made me wonder "How can they pull this of? To be able to get everybody to wear there own costume! But, by the end of the day because of that stylish classy funeral, I don't think anybody would be able to forget about this funeral and of course Jacob Hall. prompt: What is this about? The naming ceremony was on March 7th 2016. They were two pandas, one male and one female, at the time the Prime Minister Justin Trudea, Kathleen Wynne, and the Mayor of Toronto John Tory attended the ceremony and revealed the names. Jia panpan, and Jia yueyue (F.Y.I jia panpan is the males name and jia yueyue is the females.) You might be wondering why this situation became a grand celebration. According to the video on the link button above, these were the first ever baby pandas that were born right here in Canada. Which there for can be a symbol of peace and friendship between the Chinese and the Canadians.
Of course I am very interested on their fascinating names and what they mean. In the Chinese language it specifically states that "Jia" stands for Canadian and also can be translated as the "family" names of 2 pandas that were born in the Canadian soils of the Toronto Zoo. As a personal Panda lover I can honestly say that having these 2 baby panda cubs that were born right here in Canada is an absolute blessing for both Canadians and the Chinese people. "YAAAAAASSSSS!!!!!!!!" PROMPT: How do you feel about this situation? To be honest, this gave me mixed emotions of disappointment and anger For sure it can be an accident, that the police caught the wrong suspect. But is it the right thing to do, to jump to conclusions, accuse, and especially abuse this man that just got out of a car, in a parking lot behind a grocery store in Etobicoke? It just boggles my mind. Because of this the balo family of the victim Santokh Bola is suing the police in which it can be a great call to make especially when the victim has a disability! In the sense this also give an unlikely image of what our city does now a days in a negative way, to show how they improve the safety in Toronto. Based on the video up top I reacted in 2 different ways 1."omg why would the police do this to a harmless man, they are doing a terrible job!" or 2." well mistakes happen even for police its not the officers fault, am I right?" I am not saying that these are the admonitory opinions there are many, but you guys are in titled to your opinions. So in the end the police officers that were included in that event faced a lawsuit of 5 MILLION DOLLARS! And I believe the family did make a formal complaint as it is stated from the second video... |
